National Farmers Market Week! Aug. 6th - Aug12th

It's time to release my little dark secret. No not that one... The secret of how I LOVE a good Farmers Market! This coming week August 6th - 12th is National Farmers Market week, and what better time is there for me to share a few of my local favorites? All of these events are pet friendly and include many vendors supplying items for pet parents. So with that I will list a few of my favorite Farmers Markets here in Sarasota County.

Wellen Park Farmers Market
Wellen Park Farmers Market

This smaller farmers market is new and just starting out. The event started in May and has grown and grown week over week at the beautiful Downtown Wellen Park. Wellen Park is a newer community area with shopping, dining, entertainment and newly built home community’s located smack between the heart of Venice and the heart of North Port. The farmers market features fresh produce, baked good, crafts and loads of other goodies. I'm secretly hoping they get more assorted food venues in the future.

WHEN: It takes place every SUNDAY 9am-1pm

WHERE: Downtown Wellen 19745 Wellen Park Blvd, Venice, FL 34293

Venice Farmers Market has to go on my list. Located in Historic Downtown Venice "on the Island" as the locals say. This farmers market makes for a perfect morning of not only exploring the market but all the shops and restaurants located along Venice Ave. The Venice Farmers Market has loads of arts and crafts and a few tasty treats mixed into the bunch as well.

WHEN: It takes place SATURDAYS. April-September 8am-12pm & October-March 8am-1pm

WHERE: 401 W. Venice Ave. Venice, FL 35285

The Sarasota Farmers Market is by far bigger then the two I mentioned above. It's been around since 1979. It's located in downtown Sarasota and is open year round. The event features a plethora of food, plants, fresh produce and art. There is a parking garage which makes parking a breeze. I like to take the opportunity when I go to also hit Books Store 1 and Parkers Books. Book Sore 1 is a small newer bookstore featuring a mix of books and gifts downstairs and a reading and sitting area upstairs. Parkers Books features a ton of old and hard to find books, with a cozy feel and the amazing aroma of old books. The farmers market spans a few blocks and features a lot of different booths for a variety of people to enjoy. There's something for everyone, from things for pets to jerky, boba tea, produce and pasta. You might have to back track a few times to see it all.

WHEN: It takes place year round and is open on SATURDAYS 7am-1pm

WHERE: N Lemon Ave, Sarasota, FL 34236
